Headteacher’s Blog

Friday 7th May 2021:

I can’t quite believe we are in May already, it has certainly been a strange year so far – even the weather seems not to know which season we are in.

We have been back in school post-Lockdown for a number of weeks now, and whilst normal routines have been reintroduced and children are settling down to their learning well, for some there is still a level of anxiety and uncertainty that I think is going to linger on for a while.

Small children are never really good at expressing their feelings verbally, they tend to get a bit grumpy if they are worried, or a bit more disorganised and forgetful. This is perfectly normal and quite natural after the major event in their very short lives.

The teachers and I understand that well-being must come first for our children, so we are taking time and making sure that routines are being firmly re-established and support put into place where necessary. We are getting outside as much as possible into the fresh air and larger spaces and planning more practical activities, all of which are also helping.
