Headteacher’s Blog

Friday 14th May 2021:

What a FUN day we are having today! The children are looking splendid in their pyjamas, as it has to be said are the staff. Whilst it is always enjoyable to dress up, I think it is important to remember the sentiment behind today, which is part of our Reading initiatives to encourage children to pick up a book.

We are delighted that we have been able to send books home again and our online Library is still available for you to use. Reading together is such an enjoyable experience and we have been working hard to encourage children towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.

Reading is such an important life skill, which is why we place so much emphasis on it. Sometimes I meet an adult who cannot read for whatever reason, and they without fail say how disabled they feel being unable to read in such a text rich world.

We are hoping that as we move forward on our ‘road map’ to a ‘normal’ world we will once again be able to visit the Riverview Library and open up our Reading Cafe. We are also planning some new Library/reading spaces in school, with the development of an indoor and an outdoor Library area for us all to enjoy.
