GDPR – What it means for you and Riverview Infant School

 

Riverview Infant School is required to keep and process certain information about its staff members and pupils in accordance with its legal obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is the law that protects personal privacy and upholds individuals’ rights. It applies to anyone who handles or has access to people’s personal data.

 

The Golden Thread Alliance or Riverview Infant School may, from time to time, be required to share personal information about its staff or pupils with other organisations, mainly the Department for Education, the local authority, other schools and educational bodies, or social services. This policy is in place to ensure that personal information is dealt with properly and securely, and in accordance with the GDPR and UK data protection legislation. It will apply to information regardless of the way it is used, recorded or stored, and whether it is held in paper files or electronically. This policy is also to ensure that all staff and governance bodies are aware of their responsibilities, and it outlines how the Trust and the school comply with the core principles of the GDPR.
